I am an actively practicing podiatrist with over 30 years experience treating foot, ankle and leg problems with orthotics, when they are indicated.
The purpose of this site is to acquaint the reader with the many conditions that may be helped through the use of an orthotic. Of course, this is not to say that an orthotic is the only treatment available for a lot of lower extremity issues, but it is one and it is a safe treatment. In general, the worst thing that can happen from the use of an orthotic is that it will not work. You cannot say the same thing about surgery or the possibility of side effects from medication, both oral and injectable.
When discussing the various medical conditions it is important for the viewer to note that there can be other conditions that will mimic the symptoms being discussed and it is very important for the reader to have an accurate diagnosis made by a doctor who can actually examine you.
Any information given on this site should not be taken as a substitute for medical advice given to you personally by a health care provider. Nor should you delay medical consultation based on any thing you read on this site.
Conditions discussed on this site are discussed in regards to the way orthotics may alleviate the pain of a given condition. Although each medical condition is described to some degree, they are not discussed in detail, nor are other treatment options discussed.
If you would like a more thorough discussion of any of these conditions then I would suggest you visit my other website at www.foot-pain-explained.com
